A Place to Belong

Middle school students find a place to belong at Campus Life.

MEET CHARLOTTE

I met Charlotte last year at an after-school program at a local church where I volunteered. I got to know her a little bit, but could never seem to break past surface-level conversation. It was a sweet surprise when she showed up to our first weekly Club this year! Since then, she hasn’t missed a week and always comes excited and open to talk. One week during our small group discussion, she opened up about how she feels alone at school and doesn’t feel like she can be herself. She said that she loves being involved in Campus Life because she can be who she really is and feels loved and accepted.

MEET GAVIN

Gavin comes from a history of trauma and has had a rough upbringing. He started coming to Club this year to have a place to get some energy out and make friends since the last few years of school have been isolating. His family is not Christian and he doesn’t have much background on what faith in Jesus means. In the boy’s small group, after hearing the Gospel, he was asking big questions. He is still figuring things out and has a lot to learn, but he asked his leader for a Bible and is really excited to read it. His leader has been such a good resource to him and has been walking with him in the beginning steps of his faith.

Youth For Christ has chapters impacting thousands of communities across the nation that seek out and serve young people from all walks of life, just like Gavin and Charlotte. Many are silently struggling through a variety of challenging issues. YFC encourages staff and volunteers to build authentic Christ-sharing relationships through the ups and downs of everyday life.
