Providing a Space for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teens

Celebrating 5 Years in West Michigan

You may have heard about us through our recent, exciting spotlight on WoodTV! Welcome! We are glad you are here! It has been 5 years since Deaf Teen Quest was established in West Michigan as a ministry of Youth for Christ. Over these years, DTQ has had numerous Deaf and hard of hearing students enter through the doors and find genuine community. DTQ offers regular gatherings, called Club, where teens play games and learn relevant lessons. They also have a chance to share in a small group setting with peers and a leader. DTQ also offers special outings and trips, including summer camp, for Deaf and hard of hearing teens throughout the year. Nearly 80% of Deaf and hard of hearing students come from families who are not fluent in sign language. By DTQ providing a place where these teens can come and know every person in the room is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) is a beautiful part of the ministry. Here, teens are connected with adult mentors they can talk to in sign language and have meaningful, lifechanging conversations. They can connect with numerous other Deaf and hard of hearing peers and make lasting friendships. The culture of DTQ is certainly special and has provided a place of true community for these incredible young people.
