When Community Becomes Family: Ximena’s Story of Hope and Support

Ximena first connected with YFC at a Wyoming High School soccer game, where the Wyoming Campus Life director struck up a conversation and invited her to club. She began attending with friends and, over time, started to open up—especially about her curiosity around faith. Along the way, she built a strong relationship with her YFC leader and eventually shared some of the challenges she was facing at home. That trust created space for deeper care, and YFC was able to come alongside not just Ximena, but her entire family, offering consistent support and encouragement during a difficult season.

Later, Ximena bravely shared with a leader at club that she was pregnant. At the time, YFC didn’t have a Parent Life director, but the Campus Life director brought the need to God—and God provided. Just two weeks before Ximena gave birth, YFC hired a Parent Life director and she immediately began building a relationship with her. Since then, Parent Life has walked closely alongside Ximena, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical support.

When Ximena needed temporary housing and childcare while her baby was just three months old, another WMYFC couple opened their home to her, surrounding Ximena and her daughter with consistent care.

Ximena’s story is a powerful picture of what YFC is all about—the Church coming together to be the Church. It’s so much more than an after-school program; it’s a community stepping in to love, support, and walk with young people through every season of life. We are grateful that all of our ministry partners have helped make YFC a sustainable ministry in our region. It is because of faithful supporters that we are able to continue reaching more teens each year with the hope of Christ and provide various interconnected programs that offer support and hope no matter what circumstance teens may find themselves in. Thank you for your involvement so more teens, like Ximena, can be loved, supported, and pointed toward Jesus.
