YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.
WHY CITY LIFE?
City Life is an effective ministry model to transform the lives of urban youth, their families and the communities that they live in. The City Life model gives a strategic way to pursue every young person in urban communities all over the USA.
WHAT IS CITY LIFE?
City Life is a relational, holistic, community-based ministry that desires to see deep change in an urban neighborhood through the raising of indigenous leaders from the young people in that community.
WHAT IS CITY LIFE TRYING TO DO?
Our vision is to empower urban youth to change their community for Christ.
HOW IS CITY LIFE TRYING TO DO IT?
• By keeping a tight neighborhood focus and living in that neighborhood if the Spirit leads.
• By doing relational, holistic ministry with a critical mass of youth from that neighborhood.
• By raising up indigenous leaders who don’t move out, but stay and give back.
WHAT DOES CITY LIFE MEAN BY “HOLISTIC?”
To meet urban youth’s spiritual needs, we need to meet their physical needs as well (Are they hungry? Do they need glasses to read God’s word?). Holistic ministry is proclaiming the evangelical gospel AND demonstrating the gospel through addressing the social needs of youth and their families. James 1:27 says,
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
HOW DOES CITY LIFE WORK?
All YFC ministry sites, including City Life sites, focus strongly on relational evangelism and are judged by the vitality of the 5 Essentials needed to bring about real change in a young person’s life and in their community.

All YFC ministry sites, including City Life sites, are judged by the vitality of the 5 Essentials needed to bring about real change in a young person’s life. They include:
WIDESPREAD PRAYER
We deliberately engage lots of Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry site.
LOVING RELATIONSHIPS
We consistently pursue lost kids & engage them in life-long relationships with Jesus.
FAITHFUL BIBLE TEACHING
We accurately handle Biblical truth, regularly coaching kids to apply it in their lives.
COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY STRATEGY
We intentionally work together with local churches, agencies and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry.
ADULTS WHO EMPOWER
We strategically develop leaders to reach young people from every people group.
City Life has a strong emphasis on indigenous leadership development through relational discipleship and a focus on the development of holistic programming through community collaboration in combination with the resources of a local YFC chapter.
